Melchior Rasch is
enrolled in BA fashion design course at the Berlin University of the Arts since
2021 and member of the student council design.
From 2016 to 2020, Melchior Rasch did a craft apprenticeship as a bespoke
tailor in Cologne and Düsseldorf. Then he worked for the Cologne based menswear
label “joah kraus”, where he was involved in the product and model development
of two collections. In 2021, he successfully completed his apprenticeship as a
garment cutting technician at the “M. Müller & Sohn” technical school in
Düsseldorf.
In addition to his jobs and trainings, he pursued various social and political
voluntary activities, such as accompanying and supporting LGBTIAQ+ refugees at
the “Rainbow Refugees Cologne Support Group e.V.”, or organising events,
screenings and trainings in the political alliance "Aktionsbündnis 8. Mai
Demmin" to raise awareness about the origins, enemy images and
consequences of local neo-Nazi structures in northern Germany.
His interests and
his artistic development is driven by connecting fashion/design with social justice,
social innovation and politics.
